Shuttlers selected for International tournament to be held at Nepal
Budding sports persons from Spring Dale Senior School proved their mettle in sports once again by winning laurels in Badminton and Chess Championships held at Sirsa and Ludhiana, respectively. On the basis of their outstanding performance, the shuttlers from Spring Dales have been selected to participate in an international tournament to be held at Nepal.
These sports persons competed with teams from various other schools across the state and the country to bag medals in Badminton and Chess. A team of shuttlers from Spring Dales comprising Garv Chawla, of class VII, Tanmehar Kochar and Arman Preet, both from class IX, and Omkar Pawar, of Plus One, secured a gold medal in Badminton Championship organized by Youth Rural Games and Sports Federations of India at Sirsa.
“This team has been selected for participation in an international tournament to be held at Nepal,” said Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School. Meanwhile, displaying amazing gaming strategy, Shreya Vij, another student of Spring Dale Senior School, bagged the second position in the Open State Chess Tournament held at Ludhiana.
“Shreya competed with 18 players from nine districts and was placed second on the merit list on account of her outstanding performance,” said Mr Sharma. He added that the school cherished its sports persons and was proud of their achievements.
Congratulating the winners of Badminton and Chess tournaments, Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Managing Trustee, Spring Dale Educational Society, said that the school provided latest infrastructure and well-qualified coaches to its sports persons to hone their sporting skills. “The school is committed to constantly upgrading its academic and sports infrastructure to provide the best of education and sports training to its students,” they said.
