Spring Daleans prove their mettle in Punjab State Chess Tournament
Selected for nationals
Nitya Singhania (under-11 girls) and Bhavesh Mahajan (under-11 boys), both budding chess masters from Spring Dale Senior School proved their mettle once again by bagging top slots in the Punjab State Chess Tournament held at Sunam. They have been selected to participate in the soon-to-be-held nationals.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that Nitya Singhania and Bhavesh Mahajan competed with a total of 150 chess players from different schools from all over Punjab in this tournament. “While Nitya Singhania won the first position in the under-11 Girls category, Bhavesh Mahajan bagged the second position in the under-11 Boys category,” he said.
He added that both of them have been selected for the nationals on the basis of their outstanding performance in the tournament. Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, President, Spring Dale Educational Society, congratulated the winners.
