Spring Dalean bags a gold medal in nationals in Yoga
Corroborating the concern of Spring Dale Senior School for the health and fitness of its staff and students and the excellence of physical training imparted by it to maintain these standards, Mahatva Saxena, a student of Spring Dales, won a gold medal in the under-14 category in the national-level yoga competition held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that the national-level event witnessed the participation of yoga practitioners from various schools across the country. “Besides this, Mahatva Saxena bagged a silver medal in the under-12 category in the state-level yoga competition held in Ludhiana, which also saw the participation of yoga teams from various schools from all over Punjab,” he said.
He maintained that the school takes the teaching of yoga very seriously in the interests of the physical fitness of its staff and students, and it is taught with as much devotion and honesty as any other discipline in academics, co-curriculars and sports.
“We partook of the International Yoga Day celebrations observed worldwide on June 21. Yoga, which is a gift of the Indian traditions to the whole world, is an important part of the regular sports and exercise routine of the school. It is regularly performed in the school premises to provide students with a chance to relax physically and mentally and stay fit,” he said.
Congratulating Mahatva Saxena for winning gold and silver medals in national and state level yoga competitions, Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, President, Spring Dale Educational Society, said that the institution attaches due importance to health concerns, and yoga is an important part of the sports events and personality development camps organized regularly in the school.
They added that the staff and students are regularly sensitized about the benefits of performing yoga through various sessions and camps dedicated to health and wellness. “The school also has a health and wellness club that regularly organizes different activities to sensitize the staff and students about the importance of yoga in our daily lives,” they said.
