Spring Daleans prove their mettle in chess
Selected for CBSE Nationals
Displaying amazing mind power and fine strategic skills, potential grandmasters from Spring Dales dazzled the organizers with their amazing prowess in the CBSE North Zone Chess Tournament held at DAV Multipurpose School, Sonepat. The under-19 Boys team of the school bagged the first position in the tournament and has been selected to participate in the CBSE Nationals to be held at Ranchi in November.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that the under-19 Boys team of the school comprising Arman Arora, Mihir Mehra, Prajwal Gupta, and Gaumit Kauts, competed with 20 teams in the under-19 category to bag the first position in the event. “They have been selected for the CBSE Nationals to be held at Ranchi on the basis of their outstanding performance,” he said.
Mr Sharma maintained that Mihir Mehra and Arman Arora were also conferred the Board Prize as they remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. “They were awarded a shield for this,” MR Sharma added. Meanwhile, the under-14 Boys team of the school, who competed with 30 teams, was declared the second runner-up in this tournament.
Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, President, Spring Dale Educational Society, congratulated the winners. “The School is proud of their achievement,” they said.
