Spring Daleans reap a rich harvest of gold and silver medals in Gymnastics
Potential girl gymnasts from Spring Dale Senior School dazzled past their competitors in the School District Gymnastics Tournament held at Bhavan’s S L Public School, Amritsar, and did their school proud again by winning a host of gold, and silver medals in the event.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that the under-14 girls gymnastics team from the School comprising Gursirat Kaur, Kulnoor Kaur, Meera, Gurleen Kaur, and Mannat Singh, bagged the first position in the tournament, winning five gold medals in all (one gold medal each), in the under-14 Category.
“Simultaneously, the under-19 girls gymnastics team of the School, comprising Sarpreet Kaur Sidhu, Riddhi Kapoor, and Anakhpriya Kaur Dhillon, won the first position in the tournament, bagging three gold medals (one gold medal each),” he said.
Mr Sharma maintained that the under-17 girls’ gymnastics team from the school comprising Nitya Sharma, Namya Kamboj, Zannat Uppal, and Drishti Kalsy, won the second position in the tournament and bagged four silver medals (one silver medal each). “Our girl gymnasts competed with around 350 contestants from different schools to bag these medals in this tournament,” he said.
Talking about the individual performances in this tournament, Mr Sharma said that Sarpreet Kaur (under-19) won five gold medals in hoop, clubs, and ribbon events and was declared the All Round Best Gymnast in her category, while Riddhi Kapoor (under-19) won one gold medal and has been selected for the School State tournament.
He added that Gursirat Kaur (under-14 category) won three gold medals in the hoop, and clubs events and was declared the All Round Best Gymnast in her category. “She also won two silver medals in the Ball and Ribbon events,” he said. Meanwhile Kulnoor Kaur (under-14) won three bronze medals in the hoop and ball events. She was declared the All Round Third Best Gymnast.
Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, President, Spring Dale Educational Society, congratulated the winners. “The School is proud of their achievements,” they said.
