Budding Chess player selected for nationals
Budding shuttlers and grandmasters from Spring Dale Senior School proved their mettle again in the Open State Badminton Tournament and Under-9 State Chess Championship held at Moga and Jalandhar, respectively. Meanwhile, Anushka Aggarwal, a budding chess player from the school, has been selected to participate in the nationals to be held at Gurugram in November.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that Adhyan Kakkar (under-13) and Garv Chawla (under-15), both budding shuttlers from the school, bagged a gold medal each in the doubles events in their respective categories in the Open State Badminton Tournament held at Moga.
He added that Garv Chawla also won a Gold medal in the Badminton Ranking Tournament held at Ropar. “Meanwhile, Mehuldeep Singh and Sanjam Dhingra, two other potential shuttlers from Spring Dale Senior School, won a bronze medal each in the doubles events in the under-13 category, in this tournament,” he said. “The four boys competed with 64 badminton players from different schools in this event,” he maintained.
Mr Sharma added that Anushka Aggarwal, a budding grandmaster from Spring Dale Senior School, won a silver medal in Under-9 State Chess Championship held at Jalandhar. “She has been selected for the nationals on the basis of her outstanding performance in this championship,” he said.
