Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal confers cash award on Spring Dalean for myriad achievements in gymnastics
In what could be termed as a rare honour for a budding sports person, the Punjab Government has conferred a cash award of Rs 1, 32, 500 (Rs one lakh thirty two thousand five hundred) on Muskan Vij, an upcoming gymnast from Spring Dale Senior School. Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal conferred the award on her during a function held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar, to honour national, state-level and international level players.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that Muskan was awarded the cash prize for her innumerable achievements in gymnastics at the state, national and international levels. “She was among the four school going students from India, who were selected to represent the country in the World School Gymnasiade held in Brasilia, Brazil, in 2013. Besides this, she has participated in a number of state and national level gymnastic competitions as well,” he said.
Terming it as an honour to be conferred this award, Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Managing Trustee, Spring Dale Educational Society, lauded the achievements of Muskan Vij in gymnastics. “The school is indeed very proud of her achievements and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours. The award also highlights the outstanding sports coaching imparted by the school to its students,” they said.
