Spring Daleans take an oath to work for promoting peace

Terming peace as integral to human survival as well as for the existence of other plant and animal species on planet Earth, the members of the Student Council of Spring Dale Senior School took a vow to do their bit to promote peace on the occasion of International Day of Peace.

The students witnessed documentaries on the topic of peace, while also participating in an interactive session in which they held discussions on the topic “Is peace a privilege or a basic human right?” in which they discussed ways in which peace can be maintained in their school, its surrounding areas and the localities that they live in.

Talking about the significance of the Day, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. “The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples,” he said.

Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Managing Trustee, Spring Dale Educational Society, said that the school was devoted to the cause of spreading peace between the nations. “The school is committed to the cause of promoting peace in the region and between the nations particularly India and Pakistan through initiatives as the annual ‘Saanjh: Amritsar-Lahore Festival’,” they said.
