Spring Daleans win 15th CBSE Heritage Quiz
Selected for semi finals of soon-to-be-held nationals
The students of Spring Dale Senior School once again made their mark in the CBSE Heritage Quiz by first winning the area-level CBSE Heritage Quiz and then the regional-level 15th CBSE Heritage Quiz held in Gurgaon. The team has been selected for participation in the semi finals of the soon-to-be-held nationals.
Shivam Rai Luthra and Aditya Mishra, both students of Spring Dale Senior School, first won the area-level quiz competitions, and then went on to trounce top five teams of CBSE North Zone including Jammu, Panipat, Shimla, Hisar and hosts Gurgaon in the 15th CBSE Heritage Quiz.
Giving details, Mr Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, Spring Dale Senior School, said that what was noteworthy was the fact that the school’s team defeated teams from Dayanand Public School, Shimla, and O P Jindal School, Hisar, the two prime contenders, which had contested the finals of last year’s INTACH and CBSE Heritage Quizzes, in this event.
“Our team bagged 65 points in this event, whereas the runners-up obtained 51 points only. Renowned Quiz Master Ajay Poonia conducted the quiz,” he said. Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Senior School, and Mr Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Managing Trustee, Spring Dale Educational Society, said that heritage concerns have always been very close to the hearts of the Spring Daleans.
“It is very encouraging to know that our students fared so well in the 15th CBSE Heritage Quiz. Not only does this demonstrate their interest and their keenness in the heritage-related issues but also proves how hard the management and the staff of the school are working to sensitize them in this regard. We intend to continue with our endeavours in this regard even in the future,” they said.
