Curriculum

The school follows curriculum prescribed by CBSE from grade I to XII. The medium of instruction and examination is English which is taken as the first language, besides learning the regional language Punjabi and the national language Hindi as second and third languages. All students study Mathematics, Science, and Social Science as compulsory academic subjects along with the languages till class X. In addition they have a robust sports and physical health program, visual and performing arts and ICT curriculum. The students prepare for All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) of CBSE for class X and for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for class XII examination conducted by CBSE in February/March. The school offers a number of subjects for classes XI and XII under Humanities, Commerce, Medical and Non-Medical streams.

 

Methodology

Up to class V the school creates its own learning content which is based on multiple intelligences theory and adapts to various learning styles of the students. This learning resource is updated every year according to the feedback and performance of the students. From classes VI to X NCERT books are prescribed. Formative and Summative assessments form part of the report card which also includes grades on Life skills, Values and Attitudes, Visual and Performing arts, Sports and Physical Health and Work Experience. Classes XI and XII strictly follow the CBSE pattern of annual examination and NCERT books form the core of studies.

 

Promotion

A continuous evaluation system provides assessment in different subjects on a five point scale  A-E up to class V. Merit holders of each class and section are awarded with merit badges. Over all ten students are picked for the Achiever Award annually in a class size 450-470 who perform outstanding in all subjects. Classes VI to VIII Holistic Progress Card is based on periodic tests assessment besides mid-term and annual examination. Classes IX-X follow the assessment as per CBSE leading to board examination at the end of class X. Classes XI-XII culminate with a board exam by CBSE awarding marks out of 100 for each subject.
